Douglas

December 8, 1955 - December 17, 2020

Douglas Cecil Faull, 65, of Fairfax, VA, died December 17, 2020, at home with his wife and son by his side, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Douglas was born December 8, 1955, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Cofer) and Joe Douglas Faull, CDR U.S. Navy (retired). Douglas’ family settled in McLean, VA, where he attended McLean High School. Douglas then moved to Salt Lake City, UT, to pursue his passion for skiing. He eventually moved back to Virginia, where he was an avid golfer and always looked forward to vacationing and surf fishing with his family at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Douglas had a roofing business until a fall forced him to change careers.

He worked as a superintendent with Associated Custom Builders until he started a wallpapering business to afford him more time to spend with his family. He maintained the grounds of his home with the art and precision of a landscaper, and also served as the family’s primary chef. He was so skilled at home maintenance that he was often recruited by friends and neighbors to lend a hand with repairs and improvements. There was nothing Douglas couldn’t fix, replace, or improve.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cheryl Ann (Blankenship) Faull, who is proof that eternal love at first sight truly exists, and son, Shawn Douglas Ross Faull, who is the pride and joy of both of his parents. He also leaves a sister, Nancy Miller (Doug) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; aunt, Sacra Vaughan (Rex) of Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Sharon Queen of Culloden, WV; brother-in-law, Eddy Blankenship (Mark) of West Palm Beach, FL; and nieces, Nola Queen of Culloden, WV, and Alison Queen of Winchester, KY.

Douglas was preceded in death by grandmothers, Nancy Carola (Ross) Cofer and Eloise Faull; and uncle, Dr. Vernon L. Cofer, Jr. (Judy).

Due to the pandemic, there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 (www.cancer.org).
