BOOZ ALLEN HAMILTON EMPLOYEES HONORED FOR IMPACT ON TACTICAL COMMUNICATIONS MODERNIZATION AT U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION

McLean, Virginia, August 7, 2008 — On Friday, August 1, seven Booz Allen Hamilton employees were recognized at a government awards ceremony for their support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology (CBP OIT) Tactical Communications Modernization Project.

The purpose of the modernization project is to upgrade the CBP tactical communications infrastructure and equipment, which supports more than 31,000 CBP officers and agents on a daily basis. Many of those personnel operate on legacy, analog land mobile radio (LMR) systems. These systems have become more difficult to maintain over time as parts become obsolete; they may not allow for interoperability with neighboring law enforcement agencies; they may not provide coverage across all areas where CBP agents operate; and they can place mission and officer safety at risk due to the lack of encryption. Booz Allen has supported CBP with its tactical wireless communications modernization services in the planning and implementation of LMR modernization efforts for all 20 geographic CBP border patrol sectors, nationwide.

Booz Allen Principal George Weise represented Booz Allen’s senior leadership at the ceremony and introductory comments were made by Ann Testa, Acting Executive Director, CBP OIT Enterprise Networks and Technology Support Division. The Booz Allen employees honored by CPB OIT’s senior leadership for their exemplary impact on the project include:

•Senior Associate Michael Gills for overall program management
•Associate Elena Larsen for strategic project planning and analysis
•Associate Wesley Fraser for engineering requirements analysis
•Senior Consultant Mark Baker for engineering and technical support
•Senior Consultant Dianne Tarver for project requirements
•Senior Consultant Kelly Griffith for strategic planning
•ASE (Booz Allen subsidiary) employee Raymond Hogue for spectrum management

The awards ceremony was held on Friday, August 1, 2008, from 10:00 am to noon at The Waterford in Springfield, Virginia.
