Fairfax County Police have arrested a Reston man they say tried to pay for sex with an 11-year-old girl on Craigslist.

Ten charged in Fairfax heroin ring

Fairfax police, in conjunction with the FBI, have arrested ten people in a major heroin sting called "Operation Smackdown."

Police say the group of individuals-- the oldest of whom is 21 years of age--were all part of a heroin distribution ring operating primarily in Fairfax County that is responsible for at least three heroin-related deaths.

Nine are charged with conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin. One is charged with distribution of heroin resulting in death.

According to U.S. District Court documents, since the summer of 2007, a group of heroin dealers and users purchased heroin in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Md., for resale in the Centreville area.

According to authorities, the heroin ring is responsible for multiple overdoses and at least three heroin-related deaths since December 2007.

Two defendants are charged with distributing heroin that caused a user to overdose and be hospitalized in August 2007.

Another is charged with distributing heroin that caused the death of that same user in March, 2008. As a result, those three defendants will face mandatory 20-year sentences with the possibility of life in prison.

The remaining defendants each face mandatory five-year sentences with the possibility of 40 years in prison.

The public is reminded that the charges in a criminal complaint are mere allegations and that defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The following are charged with conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin:

  • Joshua Randolph Quick, 21, of Centreville.
  • David Elliot Schreider, 20, of Centreville.
  • Lokesh Rawat, 19, of Centreville.
  • Daniel Richard Nash, 19, of Centreville.
  • Tayler Leigh Gibson, 19, of Centreville.
  • Anna Lucille Richter, 20, of Centreville.
  • Jessica Reynolds Remington, 19, of Fairfax.
  • Ashleigh Lynn Shade, 19, of Fairfax.
  • An unidentified individual.
  • Joshua Randolph Quick and the unidentified individual are additionally charged with distributing heroin that caused a user to overdose and be hospitalized in August, 2007.
  • Skylar Marti Schnippel, 19, of Centreville, is charged with distribution of heroin resulting in death.
