Summer art camps

Great Falls art camp

This summer, the Great Falls Art Center will again be offering its annual art camp for eight weeks, running July 7 through August. Sessions are open to teens and to children ages 6 and up. Campers may sign up for one week, two weeks or more. Each session runs Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instruction areas will be different each week in drawing, painting, sculpture and art appreciation. After a day of art activities, campers may cool off in the studio pool until their pickup at 3 p.m. Cost is $250 per week. To register, call 703-759-3867 or e-mail greatfallsart@yahoo.com.


Burke art camp

Registration is ongoing for Art Camp in Burke led by camp instructor Carol Zeitlin, a public school art teacher who has been conducting the camp for more than 15 years. Sessions run Mondays-Fridays, June 23-27, July 14-18, July 21-25 and Aug. 4-8. Register for

  • Crafts & Drawing Fun Camp (5-8 years), 9:45-11:45 a.m.

Institute for the Arts

Fairfax County Public Schools' Institute for the Arts is still accepting applications from creative young people interested in dance, music, visual arts and theater. Summer courses will be held weekdays, July 7-31, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., at Robinson Secondary School, 5035 Sideburn Road, Fairfax. Students may select four 60-minute courses to attend each day.
