Army Museum support center contract awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $24.4 million contract for the construction of a 124,000-square-foot support center on Fort Belvoir's South Post to house and study historic Army materials.

Although not officially part of the National Museum of the U.S. Army, which will be built on base, the support center will provide museum safe storage areas for artifacts, art and related archives.

The site will require 22 full-time staffers to provide support services to Army curators, historic and and outside researchers.
