'Resort living' in Great Falls
By Jackie Friedlander
A "resort atmosphere" now pervades this 13-year-old home on Lindsey Blake Lane in Great Falls, thanks to last year's $900,000 renovation. It is now co-listed at $2,650,000 with Sharon Hayman at Long & Foster (703-402-2955) at Weichert (703-760-0744).
In keeping with the "resort" theme, the rambling house now features expansive views of the adjoining River Bend Golf Course from its many windows, while providing plenty of recreation options within.
The result is a sense of casual elegance, starting with the sprawling contemporary brick facade. Beyond the front door, with its frosted glass art deco decoration, a rugged limestone wall stands in the entrance hall, echoing the same theme.
It stands between two jutting extensions housing the living and dining rooms. Both feature expansive picture windows and new hardwood floors that continue throughout. The living room also displays a stone mantel. Beyond the dining room, blue glass mosaic tile enriches the powder room.
Behind the entrance foyer, the family room displays another limestone wall, framed by gilded alcoves. The two-story wall of windows includes glass doors leading to the patio and the two-acre lot beyond, overlooking the River Bend Golf Course. The family room also provides a wet bar with a dramatic silver mesh counter.
The adjoining kitchen features marble floors, stainless steel Viking appliances and a five-foot granite work counter facing a built-in flat-screen TV. The kitchen and breakfast areas also boast expansive windows with glass doors leading to the flagstone patio. In addition, this area provides the laundry room and entrance to the three-car garage.
The library also provides glass doors leading to the rear patio, plus built-in bookshelves. All five bedrooms feature golf course views. The main-floor master bedroom also includes glass doors leading to the patio. The bedroom, closet and bath all boast built-in flat-screen TVs. The master bath also features heated limestone floors beneath the limestone walls and the mosaic glass tile adorning the shower and tub surround. An additional bedroom suite is also found on this floor.
Stairways on either side of the entrance hall reach the second floor. The hardwood gallery, with its dramatic glass-and-steel railings, overlooks the family room and the expansive view beyond. Also on this story, one bedroom has its own bath while two others share a "buddy" bath between them.
The lower level carries out the resort theme even more completely, with its recreational offerings. Above its etched stained granite floors, the media room boasts a theater-size, 120-inch screen and a projector. They will remain with the home, like the flat-screen TVs.
The acoustic theater panels form a mural displaying movie icons Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. The nearby wet bar features a granite counter and a wine cabinet.
Recreation facilities also include a game room with glass doors leading outside and a mirrored exercise center with a flat-screen TV.
Glass doors also lead to the resort-style spa, with dramatic stone tiles. It provides a massage tub, commode, steam shower and sauna, which boasts another TV.
The schools are Great Falls Elementary, Cooper Middle and Langley High.
