Man attempts to abduct Mount Vernon student

A man attempted to abduct a 16-year-old Alexandria girl as she was walking to Mount Vernon High School Friday, Jan. 18, according to Fairfax County Police.

She was walking in the 8300 block of Richmond Highway about 4:20 p.m. to an after school event at the school, police said, when a man in a vehicle pulled alongside her and attempted to pull her into his vehicle. She broke free and reported the incident to school administrators. She was not injured.The suspect was described as white, possibly Hispanic and in his 30s. He had a chubby face with gold-capped teeth. The vehicle was a black sport utility vehicle. It had horizontal chrome stripes, a chrome grill, chrome rims and large tires, police said.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
