Holiday for the Troops. Eleven Moe's Southwest Grill restaurants in the area are banding together this holiday season with Operation Pinecone to send holiday care packages to the troops overseas. Moe's Southwest Grills in Alexandria, Ashburn, Chantilly, Falls Church, Herndon, Leesburg, Manassas, South Riding and Stafford as well as Silver Spring, Md., and College Park, Md., will be collecting care package items such as CDs, magazines, toiletries and individually wrapped snacks, along with cash donations, through Dec. 13.Moe's Southwest Grills also will be making a donation to Operation Pinecone to help cover the cost of the care packages being mailed all over the world.
Operation Pinecone is a grassroots, nonprofit organization based in Loudoun County and consists of all volunteers.

Belly dancing at La Kasbah. Every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., La Kasbah Moroccan Restaurant in Reston's Lake Anne Village Center offers belly dancing performances. The restaurant is at 11424 Washington Plaza West. Call 703-707-0733.
Jasmine Cafe celebrates 20 years in Reston. Jasmine Cafe at Lake Anne Village Center in Reston is celebrating 20 years of dining and memories.
Jasmine Cafe customers will be treated to gift certificates for prizes from appetizers to complimentary dinners through the end of the year.

French cooking demonstrations, meals. Jacques Haeringer, chef de cuisine of L'Auberge Chez Francois, is offering cooking demonstrations in December.
In the demonstrations, Haeringer shares his passion for French cuisine and demonstrates expert cooking techniques. Each demonstration is followed by a five-course luncheon paired with three fine wines.
The demonstrations take place on Saturdays, beginning at 11 a.m. The schedule is as follows:
Dec. 5: Holiday Delights ($125/person)
Dec. 13: Champagne Celebration ($140/person)

Wine and Cookie-Pairing Tour. A Taste of Loudoun Holiday Wine and Cookie Pairing Tour will be Sunday, Dec. 14. This excursion includes transportation, two wine tastings at wineries, one luxurious visit to a local bed-and-breakfast with a wine-cookie pairing and full tea, cookies to sample and treats to bring home.
The tour is sponsored in conjunction with Virginia Wine Adventures and Good Taste! Tours.
The daylong journey will begin by winding through historic towns and villages and beautiful countryside to arrive at Tarara Winery. Tour guests will enjoy an educational wine tasting ending with a pairing of an award-winning wine and savory cookies.
From Tarara, the excursion will continue to Stone Manor Bed and Breakfast, where guests will enjoy a full high tea experience including tea, sandwiches, fruit, cheese and crackers, and sweets provided by Della's Cookies. A tour will be offered, as well as a wine and cookie pairing featuring the popular Raspberry Merlot by Fabbioli Cellars.
The last stop will be a visit to one of Loudoun County's newest wineries, Notaviva Vineyards. Guests will sample wines and desserts, including the popular wedding cookie from Mom's Apple Pie.
Tour guest will receive a goodie bag with recipes and a supply of cookies featured at each stop to bring home and share with family and friends. Space is limited, and tour seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $99 per person.
