Juveniles charged with setting outside fires

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged four juveniles, Wednesday, Nov. 26, with three counts of intentionally setting woods on fire, (Class 1 misdemeanor, Virginia Code § 18.2-87).

The arrests are in connection with three intentionally set brush fires at Springfield Forest Park, 6300 block of Dakine Circle in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The brush fires occurred Thursday, August 21, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Saturday, August 23, at approximately 12:25 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 11, at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Firefighters responded to all of the brush fires, involving leaves and brush. No injuries were reported. The juveniles have been released to their parents pending court hearing.

Class 1 misdemeanors, can convey confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500.
