Westin Reston Heights now open

The first piece of the Reston Heights development opens this week. The Westin Reston Heights hotel will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, May 1, at 10 a.m., with refreshments, entertainment and tours.

The 191-room luxury hotel is at 11750 Sunrise Valley Drive. It is owned by an affiliate of The JBG Cos. and is managed by Crestline Hotels & Resorts Inc.

Envisioned as an urban retreat “designed to renew, refresh and rejuvenate visitors to Reston,” the hotel will be the focal point of the Reston Heights area, which will ultimately include high-end retail, restaurants, residential and office space in a planned park-like setting.

"The Westin Reston Heights will be an important addition to the community, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and refreshing," said Sue Brush, senior vice president of Westin Hotels & Resorts. "In keeping with the Westin brand promise, the Westin Reston Heights will offer a retreat from the rigors of travel, sending guests home feeling better than when they arrived."

Catering to business travelers in particular, the Westin features a rooftop fitness center with aerobic and weight machines, an indoor pool and a whirlpool. Some rooms offer a private treadmill or stationary bicycle. High-speed Internet access, cordless phones and ergonomic work areas are also available for business travelers.

The opening launches the 35-acre Reston Heights planned community, which is designed to serve as a “decidedly upscale” center.

"While many people primarily associate Reston with Reston Town Center, there is so much more to our town, and we are thrilled to play a major role in bringing new opportunities to the community," said David Catalon, Westin Reston Heights director of Sales and Marketing.

According to Westin Reston Heights General Manager Sami Zeitoun, the hotel will be a hub for local residents as well.

The hotel will unveil Vinifera, a new restaurant offering American cuisine, and will also offer three meeting spaces totaling 1,150 square feet with wireless Internet connectivity.
