Former Hungarian prime minister honored in Herndon

Ferenc Nagy, the last freely elected prime minister of Hungary who lived in Herndon from 1947 to 1979, was honored Saturday at his former residence, 905 Elden St., with a plaque and reception that included live violin music and a selection of Hungarian food and wine.

About 70 people attended the event, including Harlon Reece, the Herndon town councilman who now lives at the address.

Other prominent guests included Hungarian Ambassador Ferenc Somogyi, Virginia Sen. Janet Howell (D-32nd), and other members of the community and Herndon Town Council.
