Woman recants report of rape

An 18-year-old Springfield woman who previously told police she was raped at gunpoint has now been charged with filing a false police report.

The woman told police last week that she was walking with her 3-month-old daughter in the 7000 block Commerce Street in Commerce Plaza April 24 when a man with a handgun appeared and forced the pair to the rear of a home on Dana Avenue, threatened the baby and raped the woman.

Subsequent investigation revealed that she made up the incident, according to Fairfax County Police.

Cristina Arotoma-Quispe, of 6303 Frontier Drive in Springfield, was arrested Monday and charged with falsely summoning police.
