Condos crown Chantilly sales

While sales of both single-family homes and townhouses in Chantilly dropped by double digits last year, condo sales dipped by only 1.9 percent. This was reported by Ying-Ying Li at the Tysons Central Office of Long & Foster Realtors, as she compared the 2007 market to the year before.

Sales of single-family homes and townhouses fell by 11.7 percent and 16.7 percent, respectively, leading to an overall 10.6-percent loss. The total sales were 128, 40 and 52, for single-family dwellings, townhouse units and condos.

At the same time, single-family dwellings saw the smallest slide in the median sales price. Their 3-percent decline led to a new median of $575,000. For townhouses, the drop was 8.5 percent, to $377,500. Condos saw a loss of 6.6 percent, to $277,500.

Condos took second place again, for the average number of days on the market. Their average waiting time saw a 34-percent rise, to 99. For single-family homes and townhouses, the increases were 48 percent and 19 percent, respectively, to waits of 123 days and 76 days.
