Clifton girl drowns in Centreville pool

A 5-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in Centreville on Aug. 31.Jana Hammad, of Clifton, was pulled unconscious from a pool at LifeTime Fitness at Trinity Parkway around 7 p.m. Preliminary autopsy reports show that she drowned, police said.
Her father realized she was missing when lifeguards cleared the pool for a scheduled break. They found her in the kids pool in about four feet of water, according to police.
Lifeguards performed CPR, but she was later pronounced dead at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
