Reserve home is elegant at all times

No matter what time you view this luxury house on Westmont Lane at The Reserve in McLean, it will seem equally impressive to you.

The year-old white brick home is now listed at $3,550,000 with Mark McFadden at Coldwell Banker (Call 703-356-6437). It is a customized version of the Colonial Woodley model by the luxury specialist Gulick Group. Here, the classical pillars have been replaced by elaborate fluted Corinthian columns two stories high, crowned by acanthus leaves. The elegance is enhanced by the paved patio before the front door.

The impressive Colonial exterior is combined with an open, flowing contemporary interior floor plan, making the house a fine example of the eclectic style. Mullioned windows and hardwood floors echo the 18th-century theme throughout the modern main floor.

To the left of the two-story entrance hall, the living room is open to the conservatory with its two-story wall of windows. The nearby powder room features a modern glass bowl sink. The rear library boasts a bay window wall, brightening the built-in floor-to-ceiling wood shelves.

The formal dining room stands across the front hall from the parlor, in the true Colonial style. As in so many modern homes, the foyer also faces a casual rear family room. This features a coffered ceiling and a bay window wall overlooking the deck. The rugged stone fireplace stands across the room from the simple faux-marble pillars that frame the gourmet kitchen. The kitchen boasts black granite counters and a six-burner work island, plus Jenn-Air and Sub-Zero appliances.
The kitchen also adjoins the sunroom with its ceramic floors. Here, another wall of bay windows includes a glass door leading to the deck.

The kitchen is also conveniently close to the paneled doors leading to the laundry room, the pantry, an additional powder room and the three-car garage. A butler's pantry with its own refrigerator leads to the dining room.

The entrance hall is graced by a two-story stairway leading to the hardwood gallery on the second floor.

It faces a step-up bedroom with a wall of bay windows, across from its walk-in closet and private bath.

To the left, the master suite is even more impressive. The carpeted bedroom features a wall of bay windows beneath its coffered ceiling. A two-sided fireplace divides the bedroom from the sitting area, where glass doors lead to the private deck. The master bath displays a two-sided vanity with a sink on either side, plus a whirlpool tub on one side and a shower on the other. The other three bedrooms also have walk-in closets and private baths.

The lower level provides two more bedroom suites plus a powder room. In the recreation area, a smaller kitchen with granite counters stands near the carpeted game room, which features another bay window wall. A glass door leads from the recreation room to the paver patio. The media room has a large-screen projector for TV or DVD, and a speaker system sends music throughout the house. The exercise room includes a mirrored wall.

The schools are Churchill Road, Cooper Middle and Langley High.
