Teen killed at Springfield Mall

A 19-year-old Woodbridge man was shot and killed in a Springfield Mall parking lot in the early morning of Sunday, Dec. 2.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Christian Argueta left the Cerro Grande restaurant with a friend. In the parking lot they were confronted by two Hispanic males.

One of the men brandished a handgun and shot Argueta in the chest. The second victim ran for help and was not injured.

At this time there is no motive in the killing, police said.

It is not clear if the homicide was gang related or if the victim knew the suspects. The kitchen at Cerro Grande closes at 10 p.m. and from that time until 2 a.m. operates as a nightclub.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477 or Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131.
