As the manager of Lake Accotink Park, the President of the Springfield Civic Association, a member of Neighborhood Watch and chair of Springfield Days 2008, I am proud to call Springfield my home. Truth be told, I rarely leave Springfield unless I have to because it has so much to offer!
The mission of Springfield Days is about promoting a vibrant community by bringing together residents, local businesses and community-based groups in sustaining an annual event which embraces the values of family, community pride and appreciation of our diversity while encouraging wholesome, exuberant fun!
I hope you will join me in kicking off summer and celebrating Springfield Days 2008 at one of the five venues. In planning this year’s event we made sure to include something for everyone. Movies, music, food, exhibits, games, rides, parades, pets, boat races and more!
I would like to publicly thank my partners in planning on the 2008 steering committee as they are the ones that have breathed life into our four-day five-venue celebration. They have devoted many hours and sacrificed their personal time over the past year in crafting an action-packed event: American Legion Post 176; Colonial Animal Hospital; Fairfax County Department of Family Services; Fairfax County Park Authority; Fairfax County Police Department; Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce; i Play Children’s Museum; Lee District Supervisor’s Office; Leith Graphic Design and Illustration; Silver Diner at Springfield Mall; Springfield Mall; Springfield Art Guild; Springfield Civic Association; Springfield Family Resource Center; and Woman’s Club of Springfield
