County's H1N1 vaccination effort tops 35,000
Fairfax County Health Department staff vaccinated about 8,100 people against H1N1 flu virus Saturday during the latest mass vaccination clinic held at the Fairfax County Government Center. That brings the total number of people who have received the vaccine through the health department to more than 35,000.
Some vaccine was also distributed to hospitals, retail pharmacies and doctors offices, so others may have received the vaccine through other venues.
The health department has scheduled weekly vaccine distribution at each of its five clinic sites through the rest of the year, according to spokesman Glen Barbour.
"We're trying our best to put the word out [about the clinic schedule] as far in advance as we can, but there are still some variables in the vaccine availability," Barbour said.
Frequent updates regarding vaccine availability and which groups are currently eligible to receive the vaccine are available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/flu, on the county's Twitter and Facebook pages, and via the H1N1 call center, 703-267-3511 (TTY 703-591-6453).
