RSSTwo dead in Springfield
On Tuesday, Fairfax County police released the names of a man and woman who were found shot dead in their Springfield townhouse on Monday.
A police spokesman said officers located the bodies of Richard C. Scott, 66, and Suzanne M. Scott, 52, inside their home in the 8400 block of Springfield Oaks Drive around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon. Police said both had gunshot wounds to the upper body.
"We recovered a small handgun at the scene," said police spokesman Bud Walker.
The incident appears to be domestic in nature, police said. "We are confident that there is no public safety issue and that this incident stemmed from domestic involvement," said Walker.
As of Tuesday evening, autopsy results had not yet been released.
