Más vale tarde que nunca

Not that anyone would notice, but it's been awhile since I've brought you up to date on the local theater scene. Blame it on the empty nest (remember that initial iteration of this blog?).

With the boys out of the house, my husband and I made a late-winter escape. We just returned from Costa Rica, where we snoozed in the sun, drank Chilean wine and brushed up on our Spanish ("Por favor, más Chardonnay.").

But now I'm back to report – más vale tarde que nunca (better late than never) – on the WATCH Award results for 2007. The coveted awards were presented March 2 at a ceremony at the Birchmere in Alexandria.

Major kudos go to these Fairfax theater groups: Providence Players (five awards), Elden Street Players (three awards) and Reston Community Players (three awards). Altogether, 28 awards were handed out, with five shows nominated in each category. Eight judges adjudicated 109 shows during the 2007 season.
