Dear Editor,

Now that Tax Day has come and gone, and along with it, a cycle of stories about December’s tax reform bill, I’m compelled to share a real story of how a small, family business is benefiting from the long overdue tax overhaul – our story.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, my wife and I started Stafford Bounce n Play, a small business that provides inflatables for events at homes, facilities and parks. We strive to be the best we can be, and customer service is paramount, which means ensuring our employees know they’re valued is the key to our success. Thanks to the tax savings of December’s tax bill, we distributed $1,000 mid-year bonuses to each of our hardworking employees. This kind of investment in our employees—and in turn, our community—is the kind of action that Virginia and America needs for long-term prosperity.

I’m certain our story is not unique.

It appears others are already capitalizing on the extra dollars in their paychecks as we have been busier than ever for this time of year. Tax benefits are coming full-circle as people have more money to spend at local businesses, and in turn, those businesses will be able to reinvest in their operations and communities.

We are fortunate and thankful for our U.S. Representatives Rob Wittman, Barbara Comstock, Dave Brat and other Virginia leaders who had the guts and foresight to vote for pro-growth tax reform.

We're working hard to take advantage of the growth opportunity that our government has given us through this tax reform plan.
