Dear Editor,

Saving Blake Lane Park is an issue that is tantamount to saving our very community.

I just wanted to point out that as mentioned in the recent Fairfax County Times article about Blake Lane Park, the destruction of the park is a “One Fairfax” issue.

This policy supports a park system that is "equitable and inclusive" with a balanced distribution of parks for all. One glance at a local map will show that the Blake Lane area has fewer parks than other areas of Oakton, and only one -- Blake Lane Park-- that has enough space for free play.

Razing the park to build a school violates the One Fairfax policy.
