WOOF!! BARK!! WOOF! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!! The month of July is my two-year anniversary of writing this special edition for the Fairfax County Times newspaper. I know, isn’t it just pawsome!? What a fun time I have had too. My human turns on the computer for me and leaves me be so I can paw, write, bark, and paw some more! He comes back later in the day to read over what I have written and once he sees I don’t make mistakes, it’s sent to our friends for publication.

BARKS! While I have been writing about and photographing dogs and cats to help them find forever homes and humans to love, I have made many human friends along the way too. As with most organizations, there are bazillions of pawsome volunteers who keep it running with many doing many jobs or responsibilities. Paws, I can’t thank each one of them as I do not know them all by name nor does the newspaper give me that much space to paw!! So I BARK a huge thank you to all those humans working to help dogs and cats find loving humans and forever homes. Meet my friends!

The Homeless Animals Rescue Team is a mixed breed and cat rescue. If you are not looking for a specific breed dog or cat, that does not mean they do not rescue them. They assist humans who may need help with their pets too. For more information, visit www.hart90.org, 703-691-HART, hart90office@hart90.org.

I love Great Danes - especially after I found myself looking up into the face of one huge fellow while in Fredericksburg on a photo shoot! If you love Great Danes or are looking for one to adopt, the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League specializes in the breed! For more information: www.magdrl.org, (703) 644-8009, coordinators@va-magdrl.org.

Black Labrador Retrievers are the bestest breed in the entire universe! And so are Plott Hounds! WOOF, I love all dogs regardless of breed but I can’t help loving those two breeds since it’s what makes up my own DNA! Lab Rescue of L.R.C.P., Inc. is a Labrador Retriever breed rescue. This isn’t to say, they won’t assist other dogs as they have and do and would, but Labs are found here! For more information on Lab Rescue of the L.R.C.P., Inc. visit www.lab-rescue.org, call (301) 299-6756 or email info@lab-rescue.org.

A pawsome all-breeds dog rescue is Operation Paws for Homes. They rescue dogs from southern shelters and help them to find forever homes! I’ve had the most pawsome experiences meeting their dogs and human volunteers who work diligently assisting the dogs in finding forever homes! More information on Operation Paws for Homes: www.ophrescue.org, or email: adopt@ophrescue.org.

As you may know by now, I am a handsome, good-looking, intelligent, pawtastic, rescued dog who is the bestest dog a human could want. I was rescued around eight years ago from my wanderings and walkings through the countryside and mountains of North Carolina by PetConnect Rescue; another all-breed dog and cat rescue who may have purebreds too. For more information, please visit, http://www.petconnectrescue.org, email: info@petconnectrescue.org or call 1-877-838-9171.

Last December, my human and I began photographing for one of our new friends at the Prince William Humane Society. The society is dedicated to improving and assisting with the care, treatment, and adoption of animals in Prince William County, VA. The Prince William Humane Society is a separate organization from the Prince William Animal Shelter though often working together with a common goal of caring for the animals. I enjoy going on photo shoots with my human and even the occasional meetings to help the pawsome animals of Prince William County. For more information, visit www.pwhumane.org, or call (703) 634-0880.

My newest friends of “From The Dog’s Paw” is the Humane Society of Loudoun County. It is a no-kill shelter working to assist animals in many ways. I’ve met several friends there already and share them on my website. I am looking forward to a pawsome future working with them and the animals of Loudoun County. For more information, visit www.loudounhumane.org, email helpanimals@humaneloudoun.org.
