This white-colored moth was photographed on the morning of June 4th by a resident of the Ravensworth Farm subdivision in Springfield.

“This looks to me like the Virginian Tiger moth, Spilosoma virginica, sometimes called the Yellow Woolybear Moth, said Kristen Sinclair, an Ecologist III with the Fairfax County Park Authority. “It is not considered rare, but it is very interesting looking.”
