Police are looking for a Falls Church man in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

Fairfax County Police responded to check on the welfare of a person in a home in the 6900 block of Westmoreland Road in Falls Church at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. No one answered the door and there was nothing that appeared out of the ordinary at that time, police said.

Later in the morning, officers said they returned to the home with a homeowner, and entered the residence. There, according to police, they found Glenda Aviles, 28, dead from stab wounds.

Police said multiple people live in the home and Aviles rented one of the rooms.

After an initial investigation, police have obtained an arrest warrant for Aviles’ boyfriend, Juan Ramon Matetu Figueroa, 35, and say they are searching for him and a 2004 gold Mercedes four-door sedan with Virginia tag WVF-8414.

“The search continues and the investigation is ongoing,” said police spokesman Eddy Azcarate.
