A Reston man has been arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a 14-year-old girl from the East Deer Township in Allegheny County, Pa.

According to a criminal complaint, on June 2 agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Section received information that a minor had been chatting with Joshua Munoz, 23, of the 2200 block of Archdale Road in Reston, through a teen chat website.

According to the criminal complaint, Munoz and the child met online May 31 and began private messaging each other and exchanging text messages, which included conversations about meeting each other for the purpose of engaging in various sexual activities.

According to the Attorney General’s office, undercover agents assumed the child’s identity on June 2 after learning of the exchanges, and contacted Munoz to arrange a meeting for later the same day.

Munoz was taken into custody when he arrived at a prearranged meeting location in Pittsburgh.

He is charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of criminal attempt, one count of criminal attempt indecent assault and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Munoz is currently in the Allegheny County Prison on a $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11.

Munoz’s attorney, David Shrager, said Munoz is a dance student at Point Park University in Pittsburgh.

“He is a young man, 23 years old, a good student and well-liked with no previous criminal history,” Shrager said. “He is studying classical dance and about to graduate. His family is devastated by the alleged charges, which I plan to defend vigorously.”
