“Imprint; A Family Story,” showcasing the work of Alexandria, Va., ceramic artist Olivia Di Benigno, will be on view to June 6 at the arts matters gallery in Mount Rainier. Intricately carved clay tiles recount the story of Di Benigno’s Italian American heritage, inspired by a combination of architecture and family photos. In Alexandria, the GI Film Festival will host a red carpet salute to the Universal Pictures’ film “Lone Survivor.” Director Peter Berg and U.S. Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, whose harrowing true life tale — also chronicled in his bestselling book — provided the basis for the film. The evening will also feature special guest appearances by actors Adam Driver and Michelle Monaghan.

Berg will present the festival’s GI Hero Award to Lutrell in honor of his dedication to preserving the legacy of the 19 U.S. Navy Seals and Army Night Stalkers killed in the covert military operation depicted in the “Lone Survivor” film.

Also on Saturday, United States Marine and actor Driver (HBO’s “Girls,” the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII”) will be awarded the Veterans in Entertainment award, while Monaghan (“Mission Impossible,” “True Detective”), co-star of the GI Film Festival’s East Coast premiere film, “Ft. Bliss,” will walk the red carpet. “Ft. Bliss” is scheduled to screen Sunday, May 25, at the festival.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at Old Town Theatre, 815 King St., Alexandria. For a complete listing of festival events, additional information and tickets, visit www.gifilmfestival.com.
