A teen boy who collided with an SUV Thursday in Reston while on a motorbike has died, Fairfax County police have confirmed.

Sean Logan, 17, was a sophomore at Herndon High School. On Monday, Herndon High School principal William Bates sent out an email to school parents saying “Sean was kind, good-natured, and an excellent student.” He added that Logan “will be greatly missed.”

On May 8, shortly before 4 p.m., Logan was attempting to make a left turn onto Wiehle Avenue from Reston Parkway when he collided with a Lexus GX470 SUV that was heading south in the left lane, according to police. Police said after the collision with Logan’s motorbike, the Lexus then struck an Acura MDX SUV that was also traveling southbound on Reston Parkway.

According to police spokesman Bud Walker, both SUV’s had the right of way, and no charges were filed in the accident. “Neither speed nor alcohol initially appeared to be a factor,” said Walker.

Logan was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, according to police.

Police did not divulge the date of Logan’s passing, but many of Logan’s friends and fellow Herndon students began posting condolences and memorial messages on Twitter beginning May 10.

On Monday afternoon, a representative at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon said that funeral arrangements for Logan were “incomplete.”
