Party: I

Biography: President at Starrad Corp. Managing Member of GKE, LLC Vice President of G.H. Leasing Corp. Virginia Tech Graduate - degrees in Finance and Industrial Engineering Robinson Secondary School Alumnus Resident of the Town of Clifton since 2007 CBA Member

ISSUE: One pressing issue I see for the town is the dissemination of information to residents and visitors of the town. I believe the website is due for an overhaul, to make it a more user friendly experience, and a better resource for our constituents. I think it can be confusing for a resident or business to understand the different processes the town requires.

DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES: The reason our town is so successful and draws so many visitors is because it has so much character. I would like to continue to keep the town business friendly, without damaging the charm of the town.

ACTION: I am looking forward to working with the county on the issues that affect the town.

Questions:

ISSUE: THE MOST PRESSING ISSUE FOR THE TOWN OF CLIFTON IS FOR THE BUSINESSES AND THE TOWN TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PARKING FOR THE TOWN RESIDENTS AND VISITORS.

DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES: WE ARE CURRENTLY UTILIZING FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDS ON A MATCHING TO REDEVELOP OUR MAIN STREET. WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO PURSUE GRANT FUNDS TO FULLY FUND OUR MAIN STREET PROJECTEQAU

ACTION: THE FAIRFAX COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SHOULD MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO REOPEN OUR CLIFTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Dwayne R. Nitz

Party: I

Biography: My wife Sarah and I have three boys in elementary school and enjoy the unique social, recreational, and community benefits of living in the Town of Clifton. I work for Clark Construction as a project manager. I have served as Vice-Mayor since 2010.

ISSUE: Led by restaurants, our commercial district is thriving. Our citizens generally enjoy what the businesses offer our community, but growth has been dramatic and we are all adjusting to certain changes. Some new patterns are acceptable, others are not. We are in the process of addressing parking concerns but need to work swiftly.

DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES: The Town has been granted $700,000+ to implement the first two phases of our Streetscape Master Plan, improving pedestrian safety and access, and on-street parking. These improvements will serve the general public, and benefit the businesses as well. We are carefully considering how the work will support the authentic character of our historic Town.

ACTION: We enjoy a strong relationship with our Supervisor, and the Chairman. Likewise we constantly work to perfect our administrative interactions with county staff. In the coming term we expect to work with the county on new state Stormwater Management regulations, and issues related to building construction and occupancy. These are not exciting topics for most, but important.
