Finally we see progress on transportation funding in Northern Virginia. Less than a year ago the Virginia General Assembly passed the Virginia Transportation Plan (House Bill 2313). Now the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the Fairfax County 6-Year Transportation Plan with a budget of $1.4 billion. Dranesville Supervisor John Foust secured from that funding approximately 50 projects for the Dranesville Magisterial District. A list of projects may be found at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/fcdot/cdot/. Mr.Foust has been a strong advocate for transportation projects in Northern Virginia. This funding will greatly improve the quality of life in our district.
Let us not forget that not all of our Northern Virginia delegation to Richmond supported HB 2313. Delegate Barbara Comstock voted against the compromise budget bill which would have killed the funding for these projects. Now it is likely that Supervisor Foust and Delegate Comstock will face off in the race for the 10th Congressional District. Thus we will have an election coming up in November where we can show our support for the candidate who advocates for adequate transportation funding. Based on their records, that would be Mr. Foust.
