Cinema Art Bethesda will screen the coming-of-age film “Lore” at 10 a.m. Sunday at Bethesda Row Cinema, 7235 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda. Australia’s official entry for the 2013 Academy Awards, “Lore” follows the film’s titular heroine as she leads her siblings across a war-torn Germany following the imprisonment of her Nazi parents. Encountering a mysterious refugee, themes of trust and belief emerge as two people — a concentration camp survivor and the children of Nazi Party members — must look past hate in order to move toward survival. Opening tonight at the Bowie Playhouse, the Prince George’s Little Theatre production of “Over the River and Through the Woods” will introduce audiences to playwright Joe DiPietro’s loving, yet loony, Italian-American family and their quest to prevent favorite son, Nick, from taking a job in Seattle. In Fairfax County, Baltimore’s Gilded Lily Burlesque troupe will present its “Limelight Cabaret,” an evening of burlesque and variety, at 9 p.m. Saturday at The State Theatre in Falls Church, Va. Returning to a bygone era of entertainment, Gilded Lily returns to the venue with master of ceremonies Maria Bella, who lead the dazzling evening of glitz and glamour.
