A man was bound and robbed at gunpoint at a Herndon hotel, according to the Herndon Police Department.
According to police, on Dec. 11 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Herndon Police Department responded to a room in a hotel located on the 100 block of Spring Street.
“We were called by hotel management,” said Herndon police spokesman Lt. Jim Moore.
Moore said police officers arrived and heard voices coming from the room.
“Upon announcing themselves as police, officers said a female opened the hotel room door,” Moore said. “That’s when police say they observed a man being pushed into a closet by another man who was armed with a gun.”
Moore said officers were able to apprehend the armed man without incident and freed the tied-up victim.
Police said the man reported he had contacted the woman on the Internet, and invited her to join her at the hotel.
But when she arrived, the armed man was with her and made his way into the room, binding the victim’s hands and robbing him at gunpoint. Police said prior to being bound, the victim was able to dial the hotel’s front desk for help.
Police said Michael John Szachnitowski, 34, of Germantown, Md. was charged with abduction, robbery, and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Hilary Sacks, 25, of Rockville, Md. was charged with abduction and robbery.
Police said both are being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
