Fairfax County police arrested 23 men Aug. 15 and charged them with the solicitation of prostitutes.

Arrests took place at hotels in Springfield, Falls Church, Herndon, and the Tysons Corner area during an undercover operation between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., the police said.

Female officers, after communicating with the men using online sites, met them at four different hotels.

The undercover sting was in response to concerns by neighbors, who sought police help, said police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell.

“Businesses and residents often request this type of proactive approach of law enforcement to thwart illegal activity in establishments,” she said. “In addition to the solicitation charges, one individual was also charged with possession of cocaine.”

Caldwell said the investigation was led by the department’s Organized Crime and Narcotics division and supplemented by patrol officers.

“OCN detectives have developed ongoing community outreach relationships with local hotels, which makes operations like this possible,” Caldwell said.
