A bicyclist struck by a car in Silver Spring Sunday night died from injuries sustained in the collision, Montgomery County police said.
Jesus Antonia Hernandez, 23, of the 100 block of E. Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring, was traveling north on the sidewalk of the southbound side of Fenton Street on his bicycle at about 9 p.m. Monday, said Montgomery County Police Officer Rebecca Innocenti. Hernandez entered the intersection against the light and was hit by a 2004 Toyota Corolla traveling west on Silver Spring Avenue, Innocenti said. The driver of the vehicle cooperated with police and has been identified as Maria Inciong, 79, of the 18000 block of Branchwood Lane in Sandy Spring, Innocenti said.
Hernandez was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center where he died at 12:58 a.m. Monday, Innocenti said. Inciong was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, she added.
