The Community Foundation of Frederick County has announced a new scholarship aimed at honoring Frederick County’s agriculture and farming past and future.
The Grossnickle Family Scholarship fund will benefit students studying agriculture or those raised on a farm and pursuing post-secondary education, according to a press release.
The fund honors Larry J. Grossnickle, who lived and farmed in Frederick County. Grossnickle was a graduate of Middletown High School and the University of Maryland and raised three children with his wife, Muriel, in Middletown.
The first scholarship will be presented in June 2013. Applications are available through Feb. 14 on the Community Foundation’s website. For more information, visit www.cffredco.org/receive/scholarships.
