The New Market Volunteer Fire Company will join a local resturant to raise money to benefit the company’s building project fund and an area high school graduation program.
The Form a Line fundraiser, which will be held from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 7 at Roy Rogers, at 1204 E. Patrick St. in Frederick, will allow customers to donate 25 percent of their reciept to the fire department’s building fund and Oakdale High School’s Safe and Sane program by mentioning the company when purchasing food.
The Safe and Sane program is an all-night, substance-free party for graduating seniors at the school. Organizers hope to raise about $30,000 for the program.
Construction is progressing on the renovation and expansion of the fire company’s over 50-year-old station, at 76 W. Main St.
The project, which includes a 3,000-square-foot addition that is expected to be complete in February, adds a second floor to the building. The second floor will include a kitchen, work-out area, locker rooms, lounge and administrative office space.
The cost of the project is estimated at $1 million.
