Fairfax County Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a body that was found on a Reston path late Monday morning.

Police said a Reston resident was walking on a path near French Horn Lane shortly before 11:30 a.m., when they saw the body of a man lying on some mulch in a children’s playground, near a swing set.

Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said the unidentified man was Caucasian, with an average build, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, was wearing black sweatpants, a long-sleeved black shirt underneath a gray T-shirt, black socks and black, New Balance tennis shoes and a black knit cap.

“He had dark, graying hair on his head and no facial hair, possibly in his 50’s,” she said.

Police said the unidentified man wore no jewelry or watch, but carried a house key. They added that he had a six-inch surgical scar on his right, lower hip area.

Police said they surmised that the man had been exercising and appeared to have been either coming to or from the main path. Preliminarily, police said detectives do not suspect foul play; the man did not have any identification and no missing person reports have been filed.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfax County Police at (703) 691-2131.
