Board approves taxi fare increase
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors signed off on a permanent increase in taxicab fare rates from $2 per mile to $2.10 per mile following a public hearing Tuesday.
The new rate goes into effect Nov. 3. Permanent taxicab fare rates last were raised in October 2008.
Factors considered in the rate increase included gas prices, demand for taxicab drivers licenses and the rates of surrounding jurisdictions.
