Field Hockey

Madison defeated T.C. Williams this past Wednesday, 3-1. The Warhawks got goals from Alex Condon, Lauren Goforth and Gabi Namdar, while Carly Frederick and Phoebe Natale provided assists.

Westfield opened district play Sept. 13 with a 5-0 victory against Oakton to push their record to 8-2 on the season. They defeated Richmondís James River, 11-1, the next day.


Yorktown won the Second Generals VolleyBRAWL Invitational this past Saturday. The Patriots defeated host Washington-Lee, 2-1, to improve its season record to 8-3. Oakton won the silver bracket with a 2-1 win against defending tournament champion Lake Braddock.

W.T. Woodson won its sixth straight match by beating Madison, 3-0, Tuesday to improve to 9-2. The Cavaliers begin Patriot District play with a home match against T.C. Williams Monday.


George Mason sophomore Liz Hodges, a former South County High School star, was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association Womenís Soccer Co-Player of the Week on Sept. 10. Hodges racked up three goals to help Mason to a 2-1 week that included wins against Richmond and Howard. It marks the second weekly honor for Hodges, who garnered Rookie of the Week honors last season.
