Thomas Jefferson defeated Fairfax 149-153 Sept. 5 at Pinecrest Golf Course. The 149 total marked the school’s lowest nine-hole score during the five years that coach John Myers has been at the helm.
Freshman Nathan Chuwait turned in a 31, the lowest score ever seen at a high school match at Pinecrest. Sophomore Julie Luo fired a 35, followed by a 41 from Alex Dalzell and a 42 by Taylor Culman.
The Colonials then fell to Langley 165-161 on Monday at River Bend Golf Club to move their season record to 4-2.
Westfield defeated W.T. Woodson last Friday, 6-0, to improve its season record to 6-2. Emily McNamara and Katy Dunigan each notched two goals, while Meghan and Katie Winesett each added goals of their own. Goalkeeper Lauren Saltus went untested with zero saves.
Oakton rebounded from its 3-0 loss to Broad Run last week by defeating Hayfield, 3-0, on Monday to move its season record to 7-1. Senior outside hitter Misa Mori leads the team with 67 kills so far this year, while senior setter Emma Olson has notched a team-high 168 assists.
