A car accident in New York claimed the life of a McLean man this past weekend.

On Sunday in East Hampton, N.Y., Douglas F. Schneiderman, 51, of McLean was killed when a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and hit his car head on, according to the East Hampton Town Police Department.

Lt. Christopher Anderson said Schneiderman was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife and 16-year-old daughter were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the accident is under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

The driver of the truck, Brian K. Midgett Jr. of East Hampton, also was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Conditions of three people hospitalized were unavailable.
