A falling tree has killed the owner of a Manassas trucking company.

Police said 64-year-old Albert Carl Roeth III was driving his 2008 Mercedes CL600 south on Georgetown Pike shortly after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said as Roeth was passing through the 9900 block of Georgetown Pike, a large tree unexpectedly fell from the right side of the roadway directly onto the Mercedes. The tree crushed the car, killing Roeth.

Police said he was the sole occupant of the car, and there were no other vehicles involved.Roeth was the owner of Fairfax Truck Service Inc. in Manassas, according to the company.
