Jeffrey Joseph Roberson, 46, of Mount Airy, died April 24, 2012, in Columbia.

Born in Milford, Del., Jeff grew up in Medford, N.J., and Stephens City, Va.

A 1984 James Woods High School graduate, he earned a reputation as a fearless Fredrick County soccer goalie and helped popularize BMX racing events to the Winchester, Va., area.

After attending Essex Community College in Baltimore County, he turned his infectious, athletic enthusiasm to area ice hockey and lacrosse team competition while working professionally in the field of human resource placement and recruitment with organizations that included Aspen Systems, Z Tech and Talent Pro.

Moving to Mount Airy, his fishing and shooting pursuits led to formation of a corporate-sponsored, shark fishing tournament team, as well as honing sharp shooting skills through informal practice with Quantico Marine competition teams.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Nichols Roberson, and father, Radcliffe Wheeler Roberson, both natives of Marylandís Eastern Shore and most recently of Stephens City, Va.

He is survived by his sister, Stephanie Roberson-Thomas, a Milford, Del., native currently of Sanford, N.C.; an aunt, Isabel Roberson, of Owings Mills; his life companion Eun Chun, of Mount Airy; and his cats, Tux and Bear.

A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. today at Dorchester Memorial Park, 5391 Airys Road, Cambridge.
