The beginning of May has special meaning for food lovers and the nutritionally aware. It marks the beginning of farmers market season, a time when local growers and purveyors bring their wares each week to designated market sites throughout the county. The area has more than 20 weekly farmers markets, not counting scattered seasonal farm stands. Some have dozens of vendors, others only a few, but all are local.
