An Elkridge man was arrested in Prince Frederick on April 18 and charged for the murder of his wife 21 years ago.
Robert Arnold Jarrett, 57, was charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held at the Howard County Detention Center without bond.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office assisted Howard County Police with the arrest.
According to a Howard County Police press release, Jarrett reported his wife missing on Jan. 5, 1991, and told police she had walked away from their home after an argument. She never was seen or heard from again and police suspected foul play, but did not have evidence at that time to prove it, the press release states.
Recently, police said they received information that foul play possibly was involved. Police went to his Elkridge home and received permission from his current wife to search the home, where the remains of a woman, believed to be Christine Jarrett, Jarrett’s wife, were found under the floorboards of a shed, buried in concrete.
