No arrests have been made in the shooting that left a La Plata man dead in the roadway on Kent Avenue last week.
Officers patrolling nearby found the body of Martin Hawkins Jr., 32, around 8:30 p.m. April 18 after hearing multiple gunshots fired in the area.
Police won’t release much information about Hawkins, but Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kristen Timko said he was unemployed and living with his mother in La PLata at the time of the shooting.
Investigators went door to door Friday in the Phoenix Run neighborhood where Hawkins lived and passed out nearly 200 fliers with details about the shooting, a reward for anonymous tips leading to an arrest and whom to call with such information.
Detectives continue to work leads, but there was no new information on the case as of press time Tuesday, Timko said.
Police are treating the case as a homicide, the second homicide in Charles County this year.
Marsellis Laron Ledwell, 24, of Waldorf has been charged with murdering Torris Powell, 41, whom medical examiners determined died as a result of an alleged Jan. 20 fight with Ledwell in Waldorf.
A final autopsy report on Hawkins had not been issued by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner as of press time.
