Marjorie Catherine (Hanrahan) Huici, 92, of Mitchellville died April 20, 2012, at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham after a brief illness.

She was born April 21, 1919, in Wilmington, Del.

She grew up in Elmira, N.Y. After graduating from high school, she entered a nurses training program at Elmira’s St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she earned her degree as a licensed practical nurse. She married Gould A. Strong Jr. in 1938. They had five children. Employment opportunities brought the family to the Washington, D.C., area in 1955, where she pursued a lifelong career in the nursing profession. In 1973, she married her second husband, Dr. Miguel A. Huici. Together they operated a family medical practice in Oxon Hill. They made a retirement move to the Coasta Del Sol area of Spain in 1977, where they lived until 1992, when they returned to Southern Maryland to continue retirement. She had been a resident of the Collington Assisted Living Care Facility in Mitchellville since 1998.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; father, Daniel Hanrahan; mother, Grace Hanrahan Dempsey; step-father, Gerald Dempsey; and son, Daniel L. Strong.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Strong of West Palm Beach, Fla., James Strong of Jupiter, Fla., Joseph Strong and his wife, Theresa, of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Kathleen (Strong-Huici) Freije and her husband, Luis, of Ellicott City; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A mass and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 8816 Chesapeake Ave. in North Beach.
