Fairfax County police say a former student is responsible for the March 30 bomb scare at Annandale High School.

Marco Antonio Verduo Toledo, 19, of the 5450 block of Tilalary Court in Burke has been charged with felony threats to bomb and criminal trespass.

Fairfax County Schools spokesman John Torrey said Toledo last attended the school in 2010-201, but added no further information about him was known.

“I don’t know anything beyond that, or about any of his history with the school or anyone in it,” he said.

Police also said they had no information connecting Toledo to any students, teachers or administrators at Annandale.

“The case is still under investigation,” said spokesman Edward Ascarate.

The bomb scare delayed the school’s opening by several hours, and negatively affected bus transportation at more than a dozen nearby schools.

According to Fairfax County police spokesman Bud Walker, a suspicious backpack was reported to be in front of the school at 4:35 a.m.

“We received two calls about it,” he said.

A police response team with bomb-sniffing dogs and a robot responded to the school. Police eliminated the backpack as a threat around 10 a.m., allowing students and faculty in the building about a half hour later. Bus drivers also were able to resume their regular routes at that time.
